Guard Jamal Crawford bypasses Knicks, joins Trail Blazers

Guard Jamal Crawford (white uniform) bypassed a return to the New York Knicks and instead will sign with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The deal has yet to be formally signed by Crawford, Expedition Parka who also was considering the Sacramento Kings.

An 11-year veteran, Canada Goose Expedition Parka Crawford played for the Atlanta Hawks the last two seasons and won the NBA’s Sixth Man award in 2010. For his career, he has averaged 15. 2 points, 2. 6 rebounds and 3. 9 assists.

Crawford will help the Blazers deal with the absence of Brandon Roy, Belstaff Jacket who says he plans to pursue medical retirement, and Rudy Fernandez, who was traded on draft night in June.

It was expected the Blazers would use the NBA’s new amnesty clause to waive Roy, Belstaff freeing up salary-cap space and allowing the team to use a mid-level exemption on Crawford.

Crawford is close to Roy, a fellow Seattle native.

The Knicks, meanwhile, signed center Jerome Jordan, the second 7-footer they have added. Jordan was a second-round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2010 whose rights the Knicks acquired for cash. He then spent parts of the past two seasons playing in Serbia before a buyout of his contract was arranged.

He took part in his first practice Thursday and hopes for minutes behind newcomer Tyson Chandler, the established 7-1 center.
